Anti-Rust

Century City's proximity to the Milnerton Lagoon and the West Coast creates conditions where rust on metal surfaces is an ongoing maintenance challenge. Gates, balustrades, structural steel, parking equipment and boundary wall caps all require proper anti-rust protection to manage this risk.

The Correct Anti-Rust Process

Never paint over rust. Remove all rust mechanically to clean bare metal, apply a zinc-based rust-inhibiting primer, then apply an appropriate enamel or epoxy topcoat depending on the application. For structural steel in Century City developments, a two-pack epoxy system offers the best long-term protection. For gates, balustrades and similar elements, a zinc primer and hard enamel topcoat is the standard system.

Annual Inspection

Inspect all metal surfaces annually for chips and rust spots — touch up immediately before corrosion can spread. See our full Century City painting guide for comprehensive maintenance advice.
